Fact or fiction?

We have received a number of emails today with a video put out by Bloomberg TV that shows a boat being lifted by a crane in Russia.

As is so often the case in this type of video all does not go quite according to plan, while we have seen plenty of real boat drops in the past, some in video and some in photo format, this one just doesn’t quite look right??

A normal boat lift

Perhaps the reaction of the onlookers is a clue or the slight jerk as the boat is ‘thrown’ from the slings? Or maybe its the shadows? It can certainly happen and has happened in the past but there is something about this one.. over to you …..

I have personally seen a similarly rigged load fall out of slings. You can see two men on the dock trying to pull it around with a line attached to the bow which will help pull it out of the slings. This is the kind of load rigging fault that you will get away with most of the time, but will fail on you one day as shown.
