Man falls from crane

A man was left in a critical condition after falling 15 metres from a crane in La Quinta, California late Wednesday night.

The police were alerted by local residents who spotted the man climbing the crane, however he had either fallen or jumped before the police arrived. There is currently no information on the man who has been listed as a ‘John Doe’ at a hospital in Palm Springs.

Local Sheriff Matt Jimenez said: “Police have no information on the man and are trying to locate family members. Hopefully we'll know more in the next couple of days when he comes to.”

UPDATE
The man, who is still in critical condition was later identified as Joseph Vaccaro, 51 - a homeless man with no immediate family.
