Three AT’s for Markewitsch

German crane rental company Gebr. Markewitsch has purchased three Grove All Terrain cranes.

The Nürnberg based company took delivery of a 100 tonne GMK4100L back in May and is set to take delivery of a 130 tonne GMK5130-2 later this year. The company has also placed an order for a new three-axle All Terrain crane for the early part of next year. Markewitsch now has three 4100L’s and 5130-2’s in its fleet.

The 4100L has a seven section 60 metre main boom and can carry its 11 tonnes of counterweight while complying with the 12 tonne axle loadings. Chassis length is just 10.7 metres making it one of the most compact 100 tonners on the market.

Wolfgang Markewitsch, general manager of Markewitsch, said: “Because of the permit process for large vehicles, we put a lot of emphasis on using lighter machines. Manitowoc engineers recognise weight issues and continually respond to it with innovative developments. Our GMK4100L, for example, was outfitted with aluminium rims and special hook blocks at the factory, giving us a very compact 100 tonne crane with a good load chart that meets local weight restrictions for transport.”

Operating from five branches throughout north Bavaria, Markewitsch was founded back in 1946. It has over 50 cranes in its fleet topped by a 500 tonne Demag AC 500-2. As well as crane rental the company also specialises in machinery transport, heavy haulage and storage as well as the rental of access equipment.
