UK’s first Terex Challenger

NMT has taken delivery of the first 60 tonne Terex Challenger AC3180 in the UK

The 60 tonne crane, first seen at Vertikal Days, is equipped with a 50 metre main boom the longest telescopic boom in the three axle class says Terex.

Over and above the standard specification, NMT’s 3180 has been fitted with outrigger base monitoring, displayed on the LMI system, allowing surveillance of each outrigger beam for visual comparison with the programmed outrigger values.

Similarly, an outrigger load monitoring system - another option selected by NMT - provides constant input for the load on each outrigger jack to inform the crane operator of ground pressures whilst the crane is in use. Finally, radio remote control has been included.

NMT has a long history of investing in new products, and Mark Ambridge said: “Part of our on-going investment plan to ensure that NMT continues to offer a complete range of cranes capable of handling any size and type of lift, this latest acquisition adds flexibility, manoeuvrability and exceptional reach to the fleet.”

“We have no doubt that this brand new crane from Terex will be much in demand as our customers come to recognise and appreciate the many benefits that the Challenger 3180 delivers on site.”
