Last chance to comment

If you are a crane owner based in the UK you still have a few days left to provide input and comment on a new British Standard covering crane inspections.

The draft standard BS 7121 Part 2 - Safe use of cranes - Part 2: Inspection, maintenance and through examination is out for review and comment until the end of July.

BSi has broken the standard into three parts, General, Mobile Cranes and Overhead Travelling Cranes, for public comment. All three along with separate comment sheets are hosted in the standards section of the Vertikal online Library.

You have less than a week to contribute to a standard that covers the operator’s daily pre-use inspection through to chassis maintenance and inspection, 12 month Loler inspections to four year Thorough Inspection with a section on stripping out booms for internal inspections and overload testing.

You can respond by downloading or printing out a form and emailing it direct to British Standards or through Tim Watson [email protected].
