New Flagship crane for Emerson

UK crane rental company Emerson Crane Hire has added a 200 tonne Liebherr All Terrain crane to its fleet and expanded its operations.

The Dagenham based company has purchased a new five axle Liebherr LTM 1200-5.1 All Terrain crane and acquired an additional half acre of land to support its expansion plans.

The LTM1200 has a 72 metre main boom and was ordered with a 22 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, complete with hydraulic luffing/offset by up to 45 degrees. Two extra seven metre intermediate sections increase the extension length to 36 metres, taking system length to 108 metres. The extension also features an integrated assembly jib which can offset by up to 60 degrees.

The standard 72 tonnes of counterweight is augmented on this model by a special four tonne supplementary counterweight in order to provide enhanced capacities at height and long reach. In the UK the crane can travel with the 12 tonne base counterweight and the four tonne supplement on-board.

Emerson ordered the new crane with an extra storage box for slings and support timbers, spark arrestors on both carrier and superstructure, working area limitation, extra working floodlights, aircraft warning light and wind speed indicator.

The crane also features a remote control system for all superstructure operations, plus outrigger activation and positioning, engine start and stop function and engine speed, electronic inclination display and automatic levelling during set-up.

The contract for the new crane was signed by Emerson's operations director Liam Clancy and Richard Everist, Liebherr GB’s managing director, in the presence of the mayor of the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham. The unit was shipped directly to Vertikal Days, prior to delivery.

Emerson has been a Liebherr customer for over 21 years and the fleet now includes 40 cranes. Clancy said: “We’ve been associated with Liebherr for many years and see them as a leading manufacturer of mobile cranes and with excellent after-sales support. We look forward to delivery of our new crane after the show and expect nothing less than long and reliable service as usual from this superb machine.”
