E-Commerce company opens in Europe

SmartEquip, the American based e-commerce company has announced the launch of SmartEquip Europe, and has named Michel Petitjean as the managing director.

The new operation, based in Paris, will support the European arms of the company’s existing customer base, as well as offer its core products, e-FleetPro, e-CommercePro and e-DealerPro to European construction equipment manufacturers, distributors, and rental companies.

In the USA SmartEquip counts JLG. Terex, Volvo Rents and Putzmeister, among its clients along with several big name rental companies. It also already has European agreements in place with Wacker and Putzmeister.

Michel Petitjean has extensive experience in the construction and equipment rental industries in both Europe and North America as chairman of Prime Equipment in Houston when it was the third largest rental company in the U.S, chairman of Perco, a leading Canadian rental company, based in Montreal, and chief executive of Laho Equipment, one of the largest rental company’s in France (recently sold to Barclays).

He has also held various management positions with Colas, the major French construction company, including serving as president of its North American subsidiary.
