Fatal fall

A utility worker fell from an aerial lift he was using while working on a farm in Pebmarsh, Essex, last Thursday.

The man, said to be in his early 50s, was carrying out planned engineering work for UK Power Networks when he somehow managed to fall from the lift, sustaining serious head injuries. He died later in Hospital.

An investigation is underway.

Vertikal Comment

We seem to be going through a spate of falls from aerial lifts lately, thankfully some have not resulted in any serious injuries due to the wearing of a harness and lanyard, there are though still too many people using boom type lifts without them and some have sadly paid with their lives.

The information that we have been sent on this incident is very sketchy, so we do not know what happened. One thing is for certain, when properly used no one should ever be able to fall out of a work platform, just as one should never overturn.
