Lucky escape thanks to a harness

A man escaped with minor injuries after his aerial lift was clipped by a passing truck on Friday in Rockville, Maryland, USA.

The man was working from a utility truck at a busy intersection, the lift was boomed out over an open lane to reach a set of suspended traffic lights. The aerial lift was coned off, but there was no indication or restriction in the lane over which the man was working.

The trailer of the passing truck caught the lift's fibreglass bucket, ripping it off its supports, leaving the bucket and the man suspended, he was rescued by the emergency services and taken to hospital.

The lift was working at a busy intersection


The aerial lift is owned by local electrical contractors Baldwin Line Construction, and it is thought that the injured man is an employee. The local police carried out an investigation and said that no charges would be brought.
