Another bridge bashing

A crane collided with the Newcastle link road bridge in New South Wales, Australia earlier this morning.

The crane, a 20 tonne Franna pick & carry unit, belongs to Glendenning-based crane rental company Borger Cranes. It was travelling down the F3 highway when its boom struck the bridge.

A clear case of bridge bashing

The operator and a passenger were both treated for lacerations at the scene but fortunately did not need to go to hospital.

Vertikal Comment

It looks as though the crane coould have been working on the bridge or construction work nearby and was simply moving the to another part of the site with the boom partly elevated. Whatever the reason, this is a clear case of operator error.
