Fatal loader crane incident

A man has died after a steel fabrication dropped on him from a loader crane in Barrow in Furness, UK, yesterday.

While details are still very sketchy, we understand that the incident involved an articulated loader crane and occured on the Meeting Industrial Estate in the town.

Two men were involved, one - Andy Bowes 37, died in hospital from head injuries sustained in the incident, while his colleague aged 31 has what are described as non-life threatening injuries.

Health and Safety Executive inspectors have visited the site and launched a joint investigation with the local police.
