Hirepool acquires New Zealand Access Hire

New Zealand based rental company Hirepool has acquired New Zealand Access Hire from New Zealand Crane group.

The addition of the New Zealand Access fleet of aerial lifts and telehandlers makes Hirepool the largest powered access rental company in the country.

The New Zealand Access fleet is largely made up of Genie booms, scissors and telehandlers and is said to have a new replacement value in the region of $12 million – a similar size to Hirepool’s fleet which is largely JLG.

Hirepool’s chief executive Mark Powell, said: “it makes strategic sense for Hirepool to add the business to its own extensive suite of products. New Zealand Access Hire has a well-deserved reputation for maintaining a quality fleet, like ours, with the machines available across our Hirepool branch network nationwide.”

Deane Manley, managing director of New Zealand Crane group, added: “Divesting ourselves of the access fleet has been on our radar for some time, and with Hirepool already having a well-established presence we saw it as the ideal solution. It enables us to concentrate on our lifting projects and specialist transport solutions, that require a high skill level of our operators and brings us back to our core business.”

“While New Zealand Access Hire is a great market leading business, it is fundamentally different from the highly skilled and technical area of lifting solutions that our team of experienced and capable staff form such a pivotal part of.”
