Denka’s parent buys Falck Schmidt

VT Holding A/S the parent company of Denka Lift, the Danish producer of high quality trailer and atrium lifts has purchased the aerial lift business of fellow Danish producer Falck Schmidt.

The deal which was concluded on Friday and announced to the Danish stock exchange yesterday happened very quickly and many aspects of it are yet to be concluded.

The two companies are both optimistic about the prospects of pooling their resources. Brian and Michael Falck Schmidt will move with the aerial lift part of the business. While their cousin Jan Falck Schmidt will remain with the defence and other businesses..

Brain Falck Schmidt told Vertikal.Net that that they had been looking for a partner for some time, in order to give the company a stronger footing.” The merger with Denka is very positive as we have similar attitudes and synergies” “We see a very strong future to continue what we have started I am confident that together we will be a very strong company”

Both companies stated that it is still early days and that many things need to be worked out yet, a full statement is expected later this week.

Vertikal Comment

This move brings benefits to both companies, and builds on both their strengths, Denka for example is strong in Germany, where Falck Schmidt is not, Falck Schmidt has an American business, Reachmaster, that might be useful to add to Denkas sales through its dealer United rentals in that region. Both companies build high quality products and both have strong narrow high reach atrium lifts in their range, although the two products are quite different.
