An excellent opportunity has arisen for a General/Operations Manager to join a well- known logistics organisation based in Gatwick, offering a salary of £50,000 - £70,000 per annum. You will be responsible for managing, developing and optimising performance of all departments across the business.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will ensure the high standards, processes and procedures are adhered to and continually improved upon across all disciplines, from, health & safety to profit & loss and business forecasting. This is a commercially-focused role, encompassing all aspects of commercial and general management of a business.
You will have 23 full time staff with 6 being direct report managers, so strong leadership skills are essential.
· - Developing and managing the operations function including quality, health & safety, environmental, operational and financial performance, profit & loss and business forecasting
· - Recruiting, developing and retaining competent staff
· - Managing employee performance and assisting with disciplinary and grievance procedures with the assistance of the outsourced HR consultants
· - Managing the budget and monitoring and controlling operational costs
· - Planning and developing business growth and revenue streams, whilst providing information on costings, business plans and resourcing requirements
· - Good leadership and management skills
· - Proven track record of improving and planning operations
· - Previous experience of successful change management
· - Experience in plant hire/ construction industry, (e.g. lifting, logistics, engineering, mechanical or construction industry)
· - Understanding of how the business operates in the marketplace-
· - Positive attitude and ability to sustain high organisational performance
